The Democratic Party officially has a team for the by-elections in the Municipalities of Tirana, Vlora, Berat, Mat, Cërrik and Tepelena.
Regarding the 'hot' race in Tirana, the opposition did not field a democratic candidate, but chose to support independent candidate Florjan Binaj.
In Tepelena, the Democratic Party has entered Gabriel Guma , a 26-year-old entrepreneur. Guma will compete against the former commander of the Guard, Gramoz Sako, elected by the Socialist Party .
Just like in Tirana and Vlora, the opposition has chosen to support Dionis Sota , who has announced his candidacy independent of political parties and has presented his vision for the coastal city: A European Vlora for all !
For the Municipality of Mati, the Democratic Party has chosen Eduart Brahilika, a lawyer by profession, to run under their logo. Brahilika will compete in the mayoral race against Altin Bojni, selected by the Socialist Party.
Amarildo Hoxha, a doctor by profession, is the Democratic Party's candidate for the Cërriku municipal elections. Hoxha will compete in the November 9 elections against Florenc Doka, a candidate of the Socialist Party. The two candidates are aiming to replace Andis Salla, who left Cërriku after taking office as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Meanwhile, in Berat, the opposition has chosen candidate Pavlo Shkarpa, writes Zeri.
The municipalities of Berat, Tepelena and Mati "lost" their mayors, after they were elected deputies of the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections.
Meanwhile, Ermal Dredha resigned as mayor of Vlora and Andis Salla left Cerrik after taking office as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
We recall that the Municipality of Tirana, which was part of the 6 official vacancies for the partial local elections, has been suspended from holding elections until the Constitutional Court's decision on Erion Veliaj's appeal regarding his dismissal.
