The mandate of the People's Advocate, Erinda Balanca, has ended in May 2022, but she continues her work, waiting for her successor for more than three years.

Several attempts by the previous parliament to find a consensual name between the SP and the DP failed, as the need for 84 votes combined with a good practice of entrusting this post to a name proposed by the opposition.

After a long time without moving a single stone, the Assembly has returned to this issue.

Report TV has learned that on Monday, the Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration will hold a special meeting, this afternoon at 5:00 PM, to announce the vacancy of the Ombudsman.

This means that all those interested must apply to Parliament from the beginning.

The SP already has 83 votes, and with the PSD's 3 mandates, it can easily elect a People's Advocate without the involvement of the Democratic Party.

However, the Socialist Party has not yet said whether it will attempt to reach a consensus with the Democrats again.

Last time, prominent figures were presented to the Assembly for this position (Vitore Tusha, Bledar Dervishaj, Tartar Bazaj, Besim Ndregjoni, Dardan Mustafaj, Edison Frangu and Erald Aga), but they were never put to a vote, because an SP-PD agreement was not reached./ Shqiptarja.com
