The Democratic Party has accused President Bajram Begaj of seriously violating the Constitution with the decree for the May 11, 2025 elections, according to them, by acting under the influence of the majority and in violation of the principle of independence of the institution of the Presidency.
At the Parliamentary Group meeting, the DP decided to initiate procedures for the dismissal of the President, accusing him of unilateral political action and subservience to the Rama government.
The DP also approved the establishment of an Investigative Commission to investigate "serious violations and manipulations" in the May elections, which it said "do not represent the will of the citizens."
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that "this is an act to protect democracy and the Presidency from the political capture that has been made by Edi Rama."
