"Albania Initiative" coalition MP Ana Dajko, whose mandate has been among the most debated, spoke briefly to journalists after the end of the first part of today's plenary session in the Parliament.
The 60-year-old, who has attracted attention after the public clash between Adriatik Lapaj and Endri Shabani, gave a statement to the media where there was also a moment of slip due to strong emotions in this important political debut.
"I carry 64 thousand mandates on my shoulders...", but was immediately corrected by journalists, who clarified that it was about votes, not mandates.
Despite the awkward situation, she remained calm and continued with her speech, emphasizing her commitment to representing the voice of the citizens who trusted her with their votes.
"I am here to represent every citizen who believed in the 'Albania Becomes Initiative'. I will work with honesty and dedication in this mandate that has been given to us," said Dajko.
Journalists asked MP Dajko about her origins and ties to Greece, due to some information that has circulated in the media of the neighboring country that has considered her Greek.
"I am Albanian, and I have the rights as an Albanian citizen," said Dajko.
Ana Dajko is the cousin of Adriatik Lapaj, who became an MP from the "Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet" coalition.
A 60-year-old woman from Saranda, previously unknown to the public and without any political commitment, who will sit in the new Parliament.
The fight for the sole mandate of the "Albania Initiative" coalition began after an unusual request. Endri Shabani's uncle, fictitiously placed on the closed list, addressed the CEC, requesting that his resignation not be recognized, since, as he said, he did not remember having signed to give up his candidacy.
In this impasse, Kleana Xhuveli, Adriatik Lapaj's cousin, also announced her ambition to take the mandate.
However, the final decision of the Electoral College not only sealed the fate of this coalition's mandate, but also paved the way for the final certification of the May 11 elections, and today Dajko appeared in the Assembly for the first session.
