Vasil Llajo , who is chairing the first session as the oldest MP, spoke in the Assembly as he requested cooperation from all political parties.
" Today, according to the constitution, I have been entrusted with the honorable duty of opening this first session. This is a solemn moment because the chapter of the next 4 years begins where the history of our country will be written. I see this as a symbol that political life is not built only on the energy of youth, the compassion of experience, but on the cooperation of both. We need the energy of the younger generations and the maturity of those who have seen more. With my profession as a doctor, I have learned that serving people is the most honest path. This should be the philosophy of our work. Politics only makes sense when it touches the real lives of people. This legislature is new in composition, citizens want more from us, politics closer to the people. It is our duty to turn this trust into reality. Citizens want results that are felt in their families. To build a culture of cooperation on major national issues, we should be ashamed if we do not do this. Let us divide in debates, and unite in goals. Albania today is closer than ever to EU membership. This is "historic mission of this legislature. This is not a party mission, but a national one, for which future generations will judge us. Let us prove that we know how to do mature politics, where there is no lack of debate but when the last word is the last interest ," he said.
