The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho , stated that there is no data or international reports that show a decline in the work of the Special Prosecution Office in the fight against corruption.

During his report to the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, Braho stated that investigations into the assets of officials accused of corruption are carried out in accordance with the law and the relevant methodology.

"We do not know of any international report that says that SPAK's work on corruption has declined. Regarding the assets of officials accused of corruption, in every case, investigators, according to the law and the approved methodology, must search in every investigation for assets that come from the product, those that come from illegal activity and not only. Investigations are carried out in every case," Braho declared.

Asked about the publication of information from investigative files in the media, the head of SPAK emphasized that releasing such data is criminally liable for the persons who publish it.

"Regarding the publication of files in the media, anyone who releases information is criminally liable. In this period that I lead, there has been no such case, without there having been several cases in the past, but I cannot provide more details," he said.

Asked by MP Klevis Balliu regarding Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements against SPAK, Braho described them as part of the political debate and emphasized that the institution should act only on the basis of the law.

"Political statements are political rhetoric. I'm sometimes glad that SPAK is not liked by either side, because it means it's doing its job well," Braho said.

Asked why Rama is not summoned to SPAK for certain issues, according to him, summoning a person to SPAK is not done based on political or public expectations, but only when this is required by the needs of the investigation.

"A person's summons to SPAK is not made based on expectations, but for the needs of the investigation and the prosecutor knows well who should be questioned. In cases where there is evidence, no one is immune from the investigation," concluded the head of SPAK.
