What started as a political attack on the issue of nepotism in the Freedom Party, has also affected the marriage of Ilir Meta, who announced that he is following the legal path to divorce Monika Kryemadhi.

The President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has officially submitted the request for divorce from his wife, Monika Kryemadhi.

Ilir Meta is the plaintiff and Monika Kryemadhi is the defendant. What stands out is that Meta wrote the offices of the Freedom Party on "Sami Frashëri" street as the address.

Meanwhile, the Civil Court has not yet cast lots to choose the civil judge who will hear the divorce case.

A little earlier, in an interview on SyriTv, Meta stated that he and Kryemadhi have followed the legal path for this matter, while he also notified his son Besar Ilir Meta.

"Ms. Monika Kryemadhi is already my ex-wife and today I also followed the legal path for this matter and I also informed my son Besar Ilir Meta. I also informed my son, Besar Ilir Meta, who told me a while ago that when we have so many tensions and problems with each other, you can find a more peaceful solution, and I believe that I have found a solution , "said Ilir Meta.

The positions held recently by the President of the Freedom Party towards Kryemadhi have been harsh as the two have shared different opinions in public. The leadership of the party on the one hand and the investigation launched by SPAK against them served as an impetus to increase tensions in the marital relationship as both increased the dose of accusations between them. The Meta-Kryemadhi couple, parents of three children, started their "marital separation" unofficially during the time when Meta was appointed President of the Republic. Kryemadhi refused to take the position of first lady. She succeeded him to her daughter, Era, who, as a minor, accompanied her father in various ceremonies, fulfilling the void left by Kryemadhi, who took on the difficult task of leading the party in the absence of Ilir Meta. The competence that he did not fulfill properly, according to Meta, after he led the Freedom Party to destruction with the decisions made. The burning of mandates, on the one hand, but also other issues, did not save Kryemadhi, who remains guilty of Ilir Meta. Even throwing a boot at Prime Minister Edi Rama did not convince the initiator of the referendum of March 2, 2020, to continue his married life with Kryemadhi.

Already without his wife, Meta is expected to once again take the reins of the opposition with the sole purpose of overthrowing Rama. But on the other hand, SPAK, which according to him, is investigating the opposition leaders with the aim of destroying the voice against the government. The Meta-Kryemadhi divorce came at a time when both are being verified by the special anti-corruption structure after two reports were filed against them, for cosmetic surgeries and for lobbying payments made in the US.
