President Bajram Begaj has congratulated the Albanians on the occasion of the New Year 2023. Through a message, the head of state has wished a happy new year, the most prosperous, health and prosperity for all Albanians in Albania, Kosovo, Mal Zi, North Macedonia, the Presheva Valley, for the people of Arbëresh, and Albanians everywhere in the world.

Begaj says that next year, since it is an election year, we must guarantee a smooth process and within the highest standards. According to him, all political parties should rediscover the spirit of dialogue and cooperation, stressing that the common goal of all is the progress of Albania.

Begaj also had a special wish for the children. He called to stand by the youth so that they can see the future in their homeland.

In his message on the eve of the turn of the year, Begaj also touched on the situation in the region. According to him, "the serious and intolerable situation created in the north of Kosovo must end". Begaj emphasizes that only dialogue and respect for the integrity of the Republic of Kosovo are the only way to solve problems.

President Begaj's message:

Dear sisters and brothers of one blood, one language, one homeland and one nation!

It's the last hours of 2022, so let me wish you the best and most prosperous new year for you and your loved ones! Health and prosperity for all Albanians in Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the Presheva Valley, for the people of Arbëresh, and Albanians everywhere in the world.

In these months, I have tried to come as close as possible to you, to meet you closely, to hear you closely. In Kukës or Delvina, Shkodër or Elbasan, wherever I have been, citizens of all ages have spoken to me about their concerns, the difficulties they face every day.

I have done and will do the duty, that the voice of every citizen of Albania, that your voice, be heard. No one should feel left out, abandoned, violated in the opportunity to be competitive with anyone and anywhere.

While we were still dealing with the recovery from the earthquake, the crisis of the pandemic, another event would be marked this year: the unjustified Russian aggression against Ukraine. We had to face great challenges, which tested our solidarity, human solidarity and the power of unity.

Dear Albanians of the region!

We must be aware of our irreplaceable role as a factor of stability and security in the space where we live. The serious and intolerable situation created in the North of Kosovo must end. Provocations and the language of threats are not the language that can be spoken, only dialogue and respect for the integrity of the Republic of Kosovo are the only way to solve problems.

Albania will continue to support Kosovo on its Euro-Atlantic integration path, for its membership, as soon as possible, in NATO and the European Union.

In these conditions of global uncertainty, of various challenges, from economic and health to climate ones, it is easy to fall into pessimism, not to find the necessary impetus to give the maximum, to lose faith that things can be done better.

But in the meetings I have had, the Albanians have shared with me not only the obstacles of everyday life, but also their expectations, desires and dreams. They have shared inspiring stories of solidarity, voluntary contribution, extraordinary success stories.

I take the opportunity to thank all Albanians who work to make this country better, for a better future for their families, for their country.

A deep gratitude to health professionals, for the humanity and dedication they have shown in these difficult times. Acknowledgment to education and education professionals, who are dedicated to one of the most sublime missions of human society, that of imparting knowledge; tribute to the Armed Forces, law enforcement, ambulances, firefighters, to all the silent heroes who are ready to sacrifice their lives to save other people's lives.

Thanks to journalists and the media, an important pillar for a functioning democracy; for all professionals who work with honesty and dedication in the field of justice. Justice of the highest standards is not and should not be seen as a privilege but as a necessity.

I thank all those who invest and contribute to agriculture, industry, tourism, innovation, and the growth of the Albanian economy. Gratitude to all the artists, who with their art and culture are the soul of a nation.

Respect for all those who have contributed to this year's historic successes, such as the official opening of negotiations for membership with the EU, Albania's active participation in the Security Council, the increase in the geopolitical role of our country, the announcement of the Albanian Jubleta as property of all humanity, under the protection of UNESCO.

I thank all the Albanians who have excited us with their successes, like Luiza Gega, and many, many other Albanians who honor Albania wherever they live and work in all spheres, art, sport, culture, science and beyond .

Gratitude to the diaspora, which despite being branched everywhere in the world, follows with attention and concern everything that happens in the mother trunk and makes its major contribution to the further economic, social and cultural development of the country. I consider the vote of the diaspora as a fundamental and necessary right.

The coming year will be an election year, so all actors and institutions must guarantee a smooth election process within all the highest democratic standards. Conflictuality, the language of hatred and party grudges, the fragmentation of political energies, the opposition of words and not of solutions, must remain a thing of the past.

It is time to understand that our fight is not with each other, but with poverty, with corruption, with crime and insecurity for a better future, built in our lands, to say no to abandoning the homeland. All political parties must revive the spirit of dialogue and cooperation, seeing each other as representatives of different beliefs, but with a common goal: the progress of Albania!

A special wish for our children. The world of dreams, the world of goodness and peace belongs to them more than anyone else. Let's stand by the youth, give them courage, support and hope so that they can see the future in this country. Let us inherit to them a better, more prosperous, fairer Albania, an EU member Albania.

In these moments at the end of the year table, families come together and find happiness in the warmest holiday traditions. In Albania, we are lucky because we have still preserved family relationships, human ones, and they serve as a shield against the difficulties and waves of life. Our families are the warm shelter where we find the daily motivation to give our best, while we also get the best from them.

Today, in the moments of the turn of the year with the people of your heart, do not spare to express to them your love, gratitude that they are by your side and for everything they have done for you.

Dear compatriots,

When we are working in the office or tilling the land, studying or teaching, healing the sick or helping the elderly, excavating cultural heritage or creating works of art, when we are voting, whatever we are doing , to keep in mind that we are serving our families, our country, our nation at the same time,

Our dear Albania.
