The deputy of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, has today gathered a group of democrats from his group in Fier, after the failure of negotiations with Sali Berisha's group to come out with a joint candidate in the upcoming local elections on May 14, 2023.

In a statement to the media after the end of the meeting, Alibeaj said that so far, a large number of candidacies for the country's municipalities have been submitted. He said that he will soon publish the candidacies for all the municipalities of the country.

"Today, the meeting with the College of DP presidents together with the DP presidency had 2 goals, the information about all the latest developments which was our goal for our exit with a common candidate and taking the position we took was the right way today not only to inform but also the immediate start of the process of reorganization of all DP branches in order to refresh and renew and identify either for candidacy for mayors or municipal councils.

I inform you that a large number of candidacies have been filed in the PD for a long time according to the DP statute, very soon we will also declare the candidacies for all the municipalities that will be ready to compete in the May 14 elections.

We held a meeting at the DP headquarters in Durrës, in Tirana we are holding it today in Fier, the next meeting will be in Lezha to show that we are in the antechamber of the election campaign and it is the right way for the democrats to go out into the field. it is also a tactic to have more intensive contacts with the democrats wherever they are. In this entire movement, we do not want and have not issued provocative signals, our battle is with the regime, our allies are the citizens," Alibeaj said.
