Enkelejd Alibeaj and Gazment Bardhi spoke to the media after the meeting of the DP parliamentary group.

Alibeaj said that Bardhi informed the deputies about the meeting with Paloka and that it should not be just a joint candidate between the parties, but a winning candidate. According to him, there are endless ways to select candidates.

"A week ago, in a group discussion, we agreed that we are inclined to come up with a candidate for the local elections, it is in the interest of the Democrats.

While waiting for Paloka to meet with Bardhi, there was a meeting that Bardhi will tell you, I tell you that as we said last week that we were ready to discuss, what happened now was just an information that Bardhi gave us about the meeting with Paloka. This happened. The need and interest to come up with a common candidate is a goal that not only includes the need for a candidate but a winning candidate in the need to end Rama's regime in the local elections as well.

The intention is the one that determines the instrument. We want a single candidate to be the winner and the instrument should be proportionally such as to serve this purpose. The ways are endless", said Alibeaj.

While Gazment Bardhi did not provide specific details on the discussions he has had with MP Edi Paloka. According to him, it is important that the Democrats find the right mechanism to come up with a common candidate.

He told the media that the one-sidedness of each party would damage the DP unification process.

"Actually, I won't divulge any more details, apologizing for what I discussed with Mr. Paloka. The meeting was constructive and with a spirit of understanding to find a mechanism that ensures sincere cooperation of the democrats. No one had any stance on specific issues. My appeal, following all the developments, is that one-sidedness does not help this process. The Democrats must be together to defeat Edi Rama. This process is harmed by one-sidedness. Any one-sided path that aims to impose a part of the Democrats , does not help our plight to defeat Rama.

I said it the first time, I don't intend to talk in front of the cameras. Today I exchanged some thoughts with Mr. Paloka to find a way to cooperate with the Democrats. I am talking about the rigid positions of each party in the parliamentary group. If they remain rigid in their position, cooperation is undermined.

What I am saying is clear to DP members and Democrats, but above all to citizens who want to bring about change. It will take a moment of cooperation among the Democrats to find a common winning candidate. It is not only the goal to have only one common candidate, but a common winning candidate", Gazment Bardhi told reporters.

When asked why the meeting with Paloka took place in a coffee shop, he answered:  "Because we had an informal meeting, a work coffee between two colleagues. I'm sorry it was tiring for you. It was an informal meeting between mandated colleagues. The position of the DP parliamentary group announced on Monday was that we are ready to start work from that day"
