Accident in Durrës, Ulsi Manja: We will make changes to the Criminal and Road Code. DP MP: We have the laws, but we do not implement them

After the serious incident in Durrës, where two minors lost their lives, the chairman of the Committee for Legal Affairs and Public Administration, Ulsi Manja, stated that he will soon address the Parliament with several proposals for changes to the Criminal and Traffic Codes.

During discussions in the Laws Committee, Manja stated that the drunk driver who took the lives of two children and seriously injured a third does not deserve to live among us anymore, but to be punished.

"Together with several other colleagues, we will submit proposals to the Assembly for amendments to the Road and Criminal Codes. Such events should not occur for us to intervene, but we are examining all the shortcomings to address them with appropriate measures. The event is very serious. The perpetrator of the criminal offense can represent everything. He does not deserve to live among us anymore,"  said Manja .

On the other hand, DP MP Arian Ndoja stated that a law exists in Albania, but it is not implemented:

"In my opinion, we have the law, 5-20 years, but it is not enforced. No other European country has this punishment. In that neighborhood there should be squares and playgrounds. We know that there are none. There are roads there that were paved with concrete by the residents themselves,"  said Ndoja.
