The Democratic Party has called a protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office today, which is expected to start at 6:00 PM.
The rally comes as a reaction to government affairs with a particular focus on the Llogara Tunnel scandal, where Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku has been named a defendant by SPAK.
The protest is taking place under the motto "Protest", with the DP calling on citizens to unite in front of the prime minister's office.
A podium will be set up in the square where citizens, activists, and opposition political figures are expected to speak.
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared today that the protest has only one essential demand: the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, describing this as the first step towards the creation of a caretaker government.
" Today, the opposition people inaugurate the beginning of the parliamentary-citizen parliament rostrum in front of the prime minister's building with the firm and sole demand, the resignation of Edi Rama and Lubi Balluku as the first step towards a technical government and free and fair elections.
"This protest is called in the conditions when the opposition did everything for a free and fair electoral process. But the government did everything to transform the electoral process into an ugly electoral farce. Thus proving to Albanians and the world that there is no hope for a change of power through free voting as long as Edi Rama is prime minister ," said Berisha.
SPAK has taken Belinda Balluku as a defendant, who is also one of the ministers most accused by the opposition, who has also filed a series of other complaints with SPAK regarding large public contracts suspected of corruption.
From the investigation data so far, Belinda Balluku canceled the first tender for the Llogara Tunnel, reopening another competition four months later, this time increasing the costs of the tunnel's construction by 50 million euros.
The competition to open the tunnel took place precisely after top government leaders held a meeting with executives of Turkish companies, which were then declared winners in the LLogara tunnel tender.
21 days after the meeting, the tender was re-announced with a limit fund value of 190 million euros.
