The Minister of Interior, Ervin Demo, held a meeting this Monday at the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, where he was received by the head of the regional police, Skënder Hita, and local law enforcement structures.

The meeting takes place at a time when the criminal situation in the Shkodra region, especially the problems related to the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics, continues to be the focus of law enforcement institutions.

The balance of recent months has brought attention back to security in the region. During the first six months of the year, Shkodra did not record any incidents resulting in murder.

But the situation changed after July 9, when five murders were recorded in the region. Among them were two serious incidents in the Dukagjin area, which continue to remain unsolved.

On July 11, Aleksandër Koçeku was shot dead in an ambush, while on August 23, in the Dukagjini area, Prelë and Lekë Gjoni, father and son, were executed by gunfire, being shot with more than 90 bullets.

Investigations into these two events are ongoing, while the perpetrators have not yet been identified and arrested.
