TikTok founder Zhang Yiming now tops the list of China's richest people for the first time, according to Shanghai-based Hurun magazine, which estimates his wealth at $49.3 billion.

"Zhang, 41 years old, belongs to the new generation of Chinese businessmen who are more internationally focused than their predecessors," according to "Hurun".
According to the BBC, TikTok owner ByteDance, also founded by Zhang, grew global traffic by 30% last year.

TikTok, known as Douyin in China, has 200 million users in the United States alone. Zhong Shanshan surrendered his first place on the rich list for the first time in three years.

The 70-year-old's $47.9 billion fortune, based in part on his Nongfu Spring bottled water brand, put him in second place. The founder of "Tencent", Ma Huateng was in third place with his wealth of 44.4 billion dollars.

According to Hurun, the number of Chinese dollar billionaires fell last year by 142 to 753. The highest point was reached in 2021, when there were 1,185.
