How much is education worth in Albania? Families with higher education consumed 30 thousand ALL/month more than those with 8/9 years of education

People with higher education usually have higher income, which increases their capacity to spend and consume more products or services. The level of education is considered one of the key factors in the development of well-being, either in the individual or family aspect. This is also reflected in the figures from the "Institute of Statistics" on expenses according to the education of the head of the household. According to the data, families with the head of the household with higher education have higher consumption expenses than families with the head of the household whose education is 8/9 years or secondary.

But, starting from the same data, it turns out that even in 2023, families with a head of household without any level of education spent more than the year before. This trend has been noticed in the previous two years as well.

From the analysis of "Scan Intel" it results that the level of spending on consumption by families in which the head of the family has a higher education is calculated at about 115 thousand ALL per month. Meanwhile, in 2023, families with heads of households with 8-year education spent 85,268 ALL per month, families with heads of households with secondary education spent 96,176 ALL per month, while families with heads of households without any level of education spent around 62 thousand ALL.

If we refer to the analysis of the annual change in the expenses of these families, we see that the largest increase in expenses was registered by families whose head of the household has a secondary education, with 12.9%. Meanwhile, families that have a reference person with higher education have increased their expenses by about 8%. Households with 8/9 years of education registered a 0.2% decrease in expenses, while those with no completed level increased their expenses by 3.9%.

But how much difference do these families have in expenses with each other? So, how much is education worth in our country? If we look at the difference between the expenses of a family with a higher education and those with a head of the family with 8/9 years of education, the data show that it amounts to about 30,000 ALL per month. On the other hand, the difference between secondary and higher education is estimated at 19 thousand ALL. Meanwhile, the difference between secondary education and that of 8/9 years is about 10 thousand ALL.
