According to the expert, syphilis is transmitted through the contact of fluids from the vagina and penis, or through the use of unsterilized sex toys.
"There are several stages in which syphilis appears...in the beginning, a pimple appears somewhere between 9-16 days without any symptoms," said the gynecologist. "After the third or fourth week, the pimple disappears and then, after 6-7 weeks, some spots appear on the skin, which tend to darken and become darker," Mimoza added.
Later comes the degenerative stage of the organs, where the heart or brain is affected, where it can lead to loss of life," the doctor emphasized. According to her, there are no clear statistics from the Institute of Public Health, but the current situation with the cases that have been seen, seem alarming.
"In order to cure syphilis or gonorrhea, an intensive treatment with antibiotic therapy for 10-14 days is needed, as the bacteria is very aggressive and can only be understood with a blood test. The bacterium is transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy, creating abnormalities in the weight of the mother or the baby.
"Gonorrhea is also a sexually transmitted disease that causes many problems, leading the patient to the loss of life", emphasized the gynecologist. The routes of transmission are the same as with syphilis, while the only protective measure is the use of condoms. The doctor's advice was to protect yourself before any sexual intercourse and when using sex toys to always be sanitized.
