Robert De Niro's grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, has died at the age of 19.

The eldest daughter of the famous actor, Drena De Niro, has confirmed the tragic news through a touching post on social networks.

" My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you without words or description since the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy, my heart, and all that has been pure and true in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don't know how to live without you, but I will try to carry on and spread the love and light you made me feel by becoming your mom. You were so loved and appreciated and I wish only love could have saved you. I'm so sorry my baby. Rest in Peace and Eternal Heaven my dear son" , wrote the mother on Instagram.

Many celebrities shared their heartfelt condolences with the De Niro family, including Questlove and American TV personality Victoria Gotti.

Drena is the adopted daughter of Robert De Niro after his marriage to actress Diahnne Abbott.

The Hollywood star is also father to Raphael, Julian, Aaron, Elliot, Helen and Gia.

Robert welcomed his seventh child, Gia, in April 2023 with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
