The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, stated on December 27 that he visited some units of the Serbian Army "somewhere between Kraleva and Rashka", and announced a meeting with the representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo, but without giving more details.
The municipality of Rashka in Serbia is located near the border with Kosovo.
"I believe in justice and law, but more than anything in wisdom, but also Serbian strength and determination," he wrote on Instagram.
Vucic yesterday ordered that the armed forces and police units be at the highest level of combat readiness.
Earlier in the day, Vucic said that they are talking "with everyone" and are "doing everything to maintain peace and stability", to find a compromise solution.
On December 27, two new barricades were placed in the north of Kosovo.
The other barricades are located mainly on main roads leading to the Jarinje and Bërnjak border crossings, which connect Kosovo and Serbia.
The local Serbs have been erecting barricades in the north for 18 days, as a sign of dissatisfaction with the arrest of the former Kosovo Serb policeman, Dejan Pantiq. Authorities in Kosovo have said he is suspected of organizing the December 6 attack on Central Election Commission officials in the north.
Since the barricades were erected, a number of incidents involving firearms, hand grenades and stun grenades have been recorded in the north of Kosovo.
The targets of the attacks were the members of the Kosovo Police, the mission of the European Union for the Rule of Law (EULEX), KFOR patrols and journalists.
The Government of Kosovo said on Monday that it is in constant communication with the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, and is waiting for them to act, stressing that the Police of Kosovo has all the capacities to remove the barricades.
