Liridona Ademaj-Murseli, 30 years old, was killed on November 29, 2023, on "Dalip Alshiqi" street in Pristina. Regarding this case, the former superior of the Kosovo Police, Refki Morina, and the lawyer, Shkëlqim Jakupi, spoke.
Morina emphasized that currently the case of the tragic murder of Liridona Ademaj is being sifted in court and that the police and the prosecution have enough facts and evidence to argue that he is the perpetrator of the crime.
"The matter has gone to the court and this is sifting the case. The facts, testimonies, witnesses, both the defendant and the accused person are declared in court, but other people will also have their say. Most of the time, the perpetrators of criminal offenses do not admit their guilt, they try to avoid criminal responsibility. The Kosovo police and the prosecution have sufficient evidence and facts that argue that he may be the perpetrator of the criminal offense", said Morina, for RTV Dukagjini.
Meanwhile, lawyer Shkëlqim Jakupi said that procedurally the prosecution is within the deadline and according to him "the prosecution has a deadline of up to two years, but it can be an additional year if there is a justification for extending the deadline".
"The prosecutor's office has a deadline of up to two years, but I can get an additional year if there is a justification for extending the deadline from the prosecutor's office. And we are dealing with a very serious case. And determining the punishments for these criminal acts, such as aggravated murder, ranges from a minimum of ten years to life imprisonment. Therefore, the prosecution has a special care in such cases, not to allow any possible procedural omission, which could also affect the credibility of the criminal procedure, including the judicial review until the determination of the decision in the court judgment. competent", said Jakupi.
As for the case of the murder of Liridona Ademaj, lawyer Jakupi emphasized that the prosecution does not have problems regarding the fact and the way the criminal offense was committed, but the determination and finding or discovery of the motive that led to the committed act.
"In the case in question, the prosecution does not have many problems regarding the fact of committing the criminal offense and the manner of committing the criminal offense. But for the prosecution and the justice system itself, it is very important to determine and find, discover the motive, the purpose of this criminal offense, due to the circulation of news, words and media reporting. We assume, if the criminal offense is related to the benefit of material benefit or we assume with the coverage of another criminal offense", emphasized Jakupi.
Morina has added that there are different cases that the perpetrator of the different crime may not have done it, for different purposes, but that the Prosecutor's Office and the Police have managed to find out the exact perpetrator of the crime and the main motive.
"The Kosovo Police must efficiently perform their duties. Both the Police and the prosecution must find the motive that led to the murder. There are cases where the perpetrator has admitted the crime, 'I did this'. There is a case where he admitted to the criminal offense of rape and during the sifting of the facts it turned out that he did not commit the act, but his brother. Because his brother was the breadwinner of the family, but he agreed with the brother that he should serve the sentence and he accepted the guilt and the brother worked with me and took care of my family", said Morina.
