For four days, Los Angeles has been engulfed in violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement, as part of protests against immigrant deportations.

The situation remains tense, while unrest has spread to other cities such as San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, Seattle and Dallas .

In downtown Los Angeles, near the Little Tokyo and Arts District areas, police have arrested dozens of protesters, who have been escorted with their hands tied behind their backs.

In an attempt to disperse the crowds, law enforcement used stun grenades and plastic bullets.

Protesters were filmed throwing objects at police.

Police also removed a CNN crew from the protest area, while two members of their security staff were temporarily detained but released without charge.

Protests have spread across the country. At least 150 people have been arrested in San Francisco, and hundreds more in other cities.

Over 1,700 National Guard troops have been deployed in the Los Angeles area alone, while President Donald Trump ordered another 2,000 to be deployed to the field.

About 700 marines have also been activated.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass accused the federal administration of using the city as a "military experiment," stripping local authorities of their powers.

She rejected claims that the city is "being invaded by illegal immigrants and criminals," stressing that everything was peaceful before the military's intervention.

The state of California has sued the Trump administration, seeking an immediate end to the deployment of the National Guard and declaring the action unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Kristi Noem stated on Fox News that the protests are " professionally organized " and that the protesters are paid, without providing any evidence.
