A very serious event discovered recently has shocked France. A 51-year-old man identified as Dominique from Mazan, a province near Avignon, was accused of drugging his wife for at least 10 years. He would then film at least 83 men raping her. His wife, now 50 years old with the pseudonym Françoise, has suffered a total of 92 acts of violence recorded by her husband between 2010 and 2020.
As reported by the British newspaper " Daily Mail " and the French "Le Figaro", the husband allegedly drugged his wife with Lorazepam, an anxiolytic of the benzodiazepine family with strong sedative properties. The substance is alleged to have been thrown into the woman's food during meals, before he invited the rapists inside.
Dominique was a familiar name to police, who arrested him in 2020 for filming the miniskirts of customers at a supermarket near Carpentras. From a subsequent search of his home in Provence, the police found dozens of videos on a USB, inside a file called "ABUSES".
The man allegedly carried out a recruitment of various aggressors on an online forum in French dedicated to violence without the knowledge of the partners called à son insu (literally, "without his knowledge"). As of 2021, 33 of the 83 rapists identified by the French police have already been arrested. According to investigators, the men "must have known that the woman was drugged", clarifying that "Dominique never threatened them and each of them was free to stop their actions and leave". Some of the attackers entered the couple's home on more than one occasion.
According to French TV channel France3, Dominique faces up to 20 years in prison on multiple charges, including assault and rape. The 83 arrested aggressors, all between the ages of 24 and 71, are accused of rape. Some of the defense lawyers argue that the people accused of rape were negligent. According to them, they were not aware of the fact that the woman did not accept, thinking that everything was organized.
