Studying cellular proteins, three English researchers win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences decided this Wednesday to award this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry equally to David Baker "for the computational design of proteins," and the other half to Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper "for structure prediction of proteins".

The winners will share a cash prize worth 11 million Swedish kronor (about 1,000,000 euros).

The chemistry prize has been awarded since 1901 and so far there have been 115 laureates.

Before them, American scientists Victor Ambrose and Garry Ruvkun received this year's Nobel Prize in Medicine for the discovery of microRNA, the fundamental principle that regulates gene activity, the Nobel Assembly of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm announced on Tuesday.

The name of the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature will be announced on Thursday in Stockholm. On October 11, the name of this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced in Oslo. The name of the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced on October 14 and will be announced in Stockholm. The prizes will be awarded at ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo on December 10, the anniversary of the death of Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel, who established the prize.
