Stoltenberg: NATO will never send military troops to Ukraine

NATO has given Ukraine a free hand to attack Russian territory with Western weapons. This is the warning of the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg. In an interview for the prestigious "The Economist", Stoltenberg asked the NATO countries to supply Ukraine with more weapons, but not to send troops to Ukraine.

"It is time for the Allies to consider whether to lift some of the restrictions they have placed on the use of the weapons they donated to Ukraine," Stoltenberg said. "Especially now that a lot of fighting is going on in Kharkiv, near the border. By denying Ukraine the ability to use these weapons against legitimate military targets on Russian soil, it makes it very difficult for them to defend themselves."

Furthermore, the head of NATO emphasizes that the West should not be involved in military operations.

"We have no intention of sending NATO ground troops to Ukraine. We want to support Kiev, but also ensure that the situation does not turn into a full-scale escalation of the conflict", quotes Jens Stoltenberg.
