Today, Lebanon is in a chaotic situation, as Israel has launched a campaign of attacks against what it calls terrorists, of the Hezbollah regime.

Beirut has woken up to a wave of rocket attacks that have caused casualties, panic and fear in the country that has been under the rule of Hezbollah for more than 30 years and its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was recently reported dead.

But did you know that Lebanon was once a country that thrived on the intermingling of cultures, a developing economy and tourism?

Dubbed as Switzerland, Paris or the pearl of the Middle East, Lebanon was once a Christian majority, around 70% in the 40s and 50s. This period is considered golden for the country that saw great development.

In the following years, this balance would be reversed, while Muslims became the majority, according to some, also because, unlike Christians, they married more than one wife and brought many children into their lives.

As Muslims gained the majority, they not only gained power but also launched a campaign of persecution of Christians, especially under Hezbollah.

Today about 30% of the people of Lebanon are reported to be Christian. And while on social networks, the photos of the 50s, when Lebanon appeared as a modern state, have flooded, which has left many speechless.
