Israel has continued its airstrikes on Beirut in Lebanon, to hit Hezbollah hideouts.

Reuters reports that in the early hours of Saturday, a wave of Israeli airstrikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut. According to witnesses, more than 20 attacks were heard.

The attack follows that of the previous day on the command center of the Hezbollah movement that was supported by Iran. This attack apparently targeted leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Residents of the suburbs of Beirut abandoned their homes and went out into the squares, parks in the city center, but also in the coastal areas. They accused Israel of destruction.

On the other hand, the Israeli army announced that about 10 shells were fired from the territory of Lebanon towards Israel in the early hours of Saturday. The shells were intercepted by the Israeli air defense system.

The recent escalation of fighting in Lebanon with Israeli strikes on Hezbollah bases has raised fears that the conflict could spiral out of control, potentially drawing in Iran as Hezbollah's backer, and the US in turn.
