Siren alarm: Iran and Hezbollah launch first coordinated attack on Israel

Iran and the Shiite movement Hezbollah launched the first coordinated barrage of rockets at Israel since the start of the war on Wednesday, firing simultaneously from Iranian territory and Lebanon towards the center and north of the country.

Air raid sirens were heard across central Israel without prior warning, after rockets were launched from Lebanon, while other shells were fired from Iran, according to Ynet.

Loud explosions were heard in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area as air defense systems intercepted incoming threats.

The Civil Protection Command announced that sirens were expected in several central communities due to launches from Iran.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), one missile was launched from Iran and intercepted, while about five other projectiles were fired from Lebanon. The military said all launches identified from Lebanese territory were neutralized.

Emergency services reported falling debris in several communities in central Israel and the Sharon region after the attacks from Lebanon. A rocket fragment was found in Petah Tikva. Other sirens were heard in Haifa and surrounding communities to the north.

The national emergency service, Magen David Adom, said no injuries had been reported from the attacks launched from Iran or Lebanon as of Wednesday afternoon. Later, other sirens were activated in the Carmel region after new launches from Lebanon, as well as in central Israel and the Jerusalem area due to an Iranian rocket.

Fragments of interceptors were found at several points in central Israel, including near a kindergarten, where no injuries were reported. Magen David Adom teams treated several people who were injured while trying to take shelter in protected areas.

Earlier, the military announced that it had identified launches from Iran towards central Israel and the Shephelah lowland region, although sirens were not activated at that time.

Warnings of hostile drone penetration were also activated in Upper Galilee communities, while sirens were heard along the border line with Lebanon.

In a separate development, Turkey's Defense Ministry stated that NATO air defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile that was heading towards Turkish territory.

According to authorities, missile debris was found in southern Turkey, not far from the border with Syria, while no injuries were reported.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan lodged a protest with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi over the missile launch towards Turkish territory. According to a diplomatic source in Ankara, Fidan warned that any steps that could further escalate the conflict should be avoided.
