Two Albanians arrested after three years on the run since the serious accident on a cannabis farm that took the life of their compatriot have been sentenced by a British court.
Albanians Ymer Xhindi and Mariglen Nela, 43 and 33, were convicted only for cultivating cannabis worth 369,000, while the charge of murder was dismissed for lack of evidence.
The June 2020 fire at the cannabis farm in Brierley Hill claimed the life of Ymer's brother, Margaritis Djindi, a father of three. He got trapped in one of the rooms, unable to get out in time.
At that time, the fire brigade and the police arrived at the scene within 10 minutes, managing to get out the other two Albanians who had suffered serious damage from the smoke.
A fourth Albanian, who paid the rent of the building where cannabis was grown, is still being sought.
