Vivek Ramaswamy joined the Republican race to become US president earlier this year – and although he is behind Donald Trump – the ambitious young man has started to gain support in the US. The 38-year-old investor is the youngest Republican candidate in history.

His agenda focuses on restoring the American dream, in a country "lost" by "racism", "climatism", "covidism" and "gender ideology".

What is he planning?

Ramaswamy is a political novice. He considered running for senator in his native Ohio in 2022, but later withdrew.

He announced his candidacy for President in February on Tucker Carlson Tonight. Although he himself is an ardent supporter of Trump, having appeared out of court in two of the three cases brought against the former president so far, Ramaswamy has decided to present himself as his successor. He says he is prepared to go further than Trump on some issues.

Instead of just building a wall along the US-Mexico border, he says he will deploy soldiers at half-mile intervals along it.

He has also promised to abolish the FBI, reallocating staff to what he believes are more effective agencies like the US Marshals Service so they can focus on issues like child trafficking.

In a major blow to Western support for Ukraine, he has said he would back a deal that allows Russia to keep what territory it has.

The 38-year-old will soon publish a "comprehensive foreign policy vision" for Russia, China, Taiwan, India and other parts of Asia.

What did he say?

Ramaswamy has published two books. In them he compares the "intelligent left" to "psychological slavery", claiming how a "new secular religion" says that gender, race and sexual orientation determine who we are and what we can achieve in life.

Cila është historia e tij dhe sa është vlera e tij neto?

Ramaswamy ka lindur në Cincinnati, Ohio në 1985. Prindërit e tij janë nga Kerala, India jugore. Babai i tij punonte si inxhinier dhe nëna e tij si psikiatre geriatrike.

Edhe pse familja është hindu, ai ndoqi shkollën katolike dhe i jep merita mësuesit të tij konservator të krishterë të pianos atje për informimin e shumë prej pikëpamjeve të tij sociale.

Pasi kishte arritur notat më të larta, ai studioi biologji në Harvard përpara se të ndiqte Fakultetin Juridik të Yale.
Ndërsa ai ishte ende duke studiuar, bashkëthemeloi StudentBusinesses.com që lidhte sipërmarrësit me burimet profesionale në internet.

Pas diplomimit në 2007 ai bashkëthemeloi një sipërmarrje të ngjashme të quajtur Campus Venture Network për të ndihmuar studentët e universitetit të fillojnë start up-et e tyre.

Gjatë viteve të para të karrierës ai punoi në fondet mbrojtëse, kryesisht në fushën e bioteknologjisë. Në vitin 2014 ai krijoi firmën e tij Roivant Sciences me qëllimin kryesor blerjen e licencave të barnave që janë braktisur nga industria farmaceutike.

Një vit më vonë ai lëshoi një nga IPO-të (oferta fillestare publike) më e madhe në historinë e sektorit kur listoi aksionet e kompanisë filial të saj, Axovant, e cila kishte blerë më parë licencën për një ilaç për Alzheimerin nga GlaxoSmithKline.
Pavarësisht se kishte fituar 315 milionë dollarë nga IPO – përfundimisht testimi i ilaçit dështoi. Kjo përvojë sipas tij ka qenë poshtëruese.

Ai u largua nga posti i shefit ekzekutiv të Roivant në vitin 2021, por duke mbajtur ende një aksion prej 7% në kompani.
Vitin e kaluar ai bashkëthemeloi një firmë të re investimi, të quajtur Strive Asset Management.

Tani ai pretendon se ka mbështetje të gjerë nga votuesit dhe donatorët e rinj. Ai thotë se rreth 40% e 700,000 mbështetësve të tij financiarë kanë ofruar donacione të vogla.

Forbes reported that his net worth is estimated at $630 million, and so far he has spent $15 million of that on his campaign.
