The Minister of Finance in Great Britain, Kwasi Kwarteng, resigns. The resignation comes amid speculation Truss will announce a mini-budget turnaround today.

Kwarteng is described as the 'shortest-serving' minister in the job, while he has been described as a political 'soul mate' of Prime Minister Liz Truss. The shortest-serving minister, Iain Macleod, died of a heart attack 30 days after taking office in 1970.

As of 2019, the UK has had four ministers, including Nadhim Zahawi, who served the third shortest term at 63 days during a short-lived reshuffle under Boris Johnson, and Sajid Javid who served 204 days – the fourth longest short.
