US national security strategy: The main challenge is China, not Russia

The White House unveiled an overdue national security strategy aimed at limiting China's rise and reinforcing the importance of cooperation with allies in solving the challenges facing democratic nations.

The document, whose presentation was delayed due to the crisis in Ukraine, does not bring major changes or new doctrine to the foreign policy of the administration of President Joe Biden.

Instead, the document emphasizes the view that American leadership is essential to overcoming global threats such as climate change and the rise of authoritarian regimes.

Even after the Russian invasion, China is the biggest challenge to the global order, according to American strategy.

"Russia is an immediate threat to the free and just international order because it brazenly violates basic international regulations," the White House said.

China, on the other hand, is considered to be the only adversary that aspires to change the international world order and has the economic, diplomatic, military and technological means to achieve this goal.

President Joe Biden signed a statement radiating optimism, according to the AFP agency. "The United States has all the assets to win this 21st century context. We come out of every crisis stronger. There is nothing we cannot achieve."

It is said that the United States must win the economic arms race with the superpower if it is to maintain its influence around the world.

"The People's Republic of China intends, and increasingly has the ability, to reshape the international order so that global developments work in its favor, even as the United States seeks to responsibly manage the competition between our two countries," the adviser said. Homeland Security Jake Sullivan.

The US must simultaneously manage transnational challenges that affect people everywhere, including climate change, food insecurity, infectious diseases, terrorism, energy, transition and inflation.

Biden still has to resolve several key foreign policy issues, including tariffs on Chinese goods imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump that are costing American importers billions, while there are other pressing issues. because of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, then the deterioration of relations with Saudi Arabia and India's connection with Russian energy companies.

Sullivan had to answer questions about Biden's warning that the US would "reexamine" its relationship with Saudi Arabia and that there would be "consequences" for announcing last week that OPEC+ would cut oil production against interests of the USA.
