US President Joe Biden announced the next package of military aid to Ukraine worth $800 million, as well as a scheme to help refugees.
Biden also made it clear that no Russian, or Russian-linked, ship will be able to dock in the US, a Ukrainian request to which Washington had so far resisted.
The United States appears to be seeking to crack down on anyone trying to help Russia, announcing a new round of sanctions on private banks and a network of individuals the administration claims are trying to help Russia evade sanctions.
There is still much criticism of whether such sanctions are effective, but the U.S. has said they will affect Russia's economy by shrinking it by up to 15 percent in the long run.
The sanctions imposed, the ban on energy imports and various legislation signed by Biden will make it very difficult for Russia to have normal trade relations.
In his White House update, US President Joe Biden also says the US is banning Russian-linked ships from its ports, in a move to "increase pressure on Putin".
"No ship sailing under the Russian flag, either owned or operated by Russian interests, will be able to dock in a US port, or enter our shores. None, none," he says.
