US launches new wave of attacks on Iran, Trump: They must behave well

The United States has launched a new wave of military strikes on Iran, while US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Tehran, stating that Iranian authorities "better behave."

According to the US military, the targets struck were Iranian military capabilities used to threaten commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime corridors for oil transportation in the world.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that air defense systems were activated in Tehran, while Iranian authorities stated that they had struck US military targets in the region, including bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.

The new escalation of tensions comes just five days after the parties reached a preliminary agreement to end the conflict.

The speaker of Iran's parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, told state media that Iran "has no reason" to respect the deal if it does not benefit the country.

He stressed that Iran's national security requires maintaining Iranian control and measures in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that negotiations, like war, are part of Tehran's strategy of resistance in what he called an "existential" conflict with the United States.

A day earlier, Trump had threatened to hit bridges and power plants in Iran if Tehran did not return to the negotiating table next week.

Asked by reporters if he would set a deadline before taking further military action, the US president replied:

"I don't like to set deadlines, but they know the situation very well... They better behave themselves."

Later, during a defense summit, Trump declared that Iran is "not happy at all" with the current situation.

"They want to reach an agreement as soon as possible. They don't like what we're doing. We'll see if we negotiate with them or take this to the end," he said.

Meanwhile, despite the tensions, Trump welcomed the release of an American citizen detained in Iran since December 2024. He described this action as a "gesture of goodwill" on the part of Tehran.

According to the US president, Dena Karari is now outside Iran and in good health. Her lawyer, Jared Genser, also confirmed that she has left for the United States.

The situation remains extremely tense, while the international community is following developments with concern, due to the risk of further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
