US and Iran widen clash front

Iran said it had struck a US military base in Bahrain, calling the attack the "second phase of retaliation" to US operations against Iranian targets.

At the same time, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had launched a new wave of attacks overnight on dozens of targets in several areas of Iran.

According to CENTCOM, the targets included air defense systems, coastal radar stations, missile and drone capabilities, as well as small naval vessels.

The US command announced that fighter jets, Navy vehicles, single-track attack drones and, for the first time, single-track naval drones were used in the operation.

"US forces remain ready to ensure freedom of navigation for commercial vessels. Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM stated.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Iranian missiles and drones hit fuel and ammunition depots at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, causing a fire.

According to the IRGC, this was the "first phase" of the retaliatory operation following the US attacks on Iranian coastal bases, and the operation is still ongoing.

In a separate statement, the Revolutionary Guards navy announced that it had carried out an overnight operation in the Strait of Hormuz, where it said it neutralized the systems of two ships accused of violating navigation rules and endangering maritime security.

On the other hand, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior reported the activation of alarm sirens in the country.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that one person was killed and four others were injured after a US attack on a water pumping station in southwestern Iran.

Iran's Fars news agency also reported that US strikes hit the Abadan and Shadegan areas in Khuzestan province, while regional media also reported power outages in the city of Ahvaz.

In other developments, Axios, citing a US official, reported that about 20 commercial ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the last 24 hours in coordination with the United States military, while several other vessels have made the crossing without this coordination.

Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry accused the United States of preventing an agreement on managing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz during talks held in Muscat, claiming that Washington exerted pressure on Oman.

According to CENTCOM, United States President Donald Trump ordered the latest wave of attacks to "further degrade the ability of Iranian forces to attack civilian and commercial shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz.
