Rubio warns: The hardest strikes on Iran have yet to begin
Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the strongest strikes against Iran are yet to come. Asked how long the US military's engagement against Iran will continue, Rubio replied that the operation will last as long as necessary.

"The heaviest blows from the US military are still ahead. The next phase will be even harsher for Iran than what is happening now," he told reporters in the US Congress.

“How long will it take? I don’t know how long it will take, ” Rubio added. “We have clear objectives and we will continue as long as it takes to achieve them.”

The US secretary stated that overthrowing the regime in Tehran is not the goal of the military operation.

“We would like Iran not to be run by radical Shiite clerics ,” he said before a closed-door briefing at the U.S. Capitol. “But that is not the objective.”

The first joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran killed Supreme Leader Ali Ayatollah Khamenei, as well as several of the country's top leaders.

“The objectives of this operation are to destroy their ballistic missile capability and ensure that they cannot rebuild it, and that they cannot use it as a cover for a nuclear program ,” he said. “That is the mission.”

Rubio, along with Hegseth and other officials, are briefing congressional leaders and key members of national security committees on the Iran operation.
