Independent candidate for president of the USA, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed the necessary paperwork today to withdraw from the Arizona state presidential election, Arizona Secretary of the Interior Adrian Fontes said.

Kennedy addresses the nation today in Arizona about the decision.

The super PAC supporting Kennedy told Reuters on Wednesday that the candidate wants a deal with Donald Trump in which he would endorse his Republican opponent in exchange for a seat in an eventual Trump administration.

Trump told CNN this week that he is "certainly open" to the prospect of Kennedy playing a role in his administration if the independent candidate withdraws from the race and endorses him.

Kennedy, his running mate Nicole Shanahan and 11 of his presidential constituents have issued notices of voluntary withdrawal, Fondes said in a post on the X campaign. Kennedy did not respond to a request for comment.

Kennedy, 70, the son of the late Democratic politician and US Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and the grandson of the late President John F. Kennedy, had begun his presidential campaign as a Democrat, seeking the party's presidential nomination as a challenger within the party of President Joe Biden.
