Richard Grenell and Aleksandar Vucic

Donald Trump's former envoy for the Balkans, Richard Grenell, has denied Serbia's genocide of Bosniaks in Srebrenica, saying that not every war crime can be called genocide.

A close friend of the Serbian president Aleksandër Vucic, but also a well-liked figure in some circles in Tirana, Grenell shared an opinion of the Jerusalem Post of the same spirit.

According to Grenell, if an event where more than 8,000 people were killed is called a genocide, the significance of the word "genocide" such as Hitler's against the Jews is devalued.

Here is what Grenell writes:

This is so true.

Germans are pushing for a UN resolution to label a genocide 29 years after the fact.

Not all war crimes should be labeled genocide. Calling some other war crimes the Genocide label undermines what the then German government did in 1941.

Keep politics out of this sensitive but important label.
