Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced that they will allocate 100 for children up to 16 years old and for pensioners in Kosovo.

"All of you who are aged 0 to 16 and who are recipients of monthly child allowances will benefit from 100 euros each," declared the head of the Kosovo government.

In a joint conference with his Finance Minister, Hekuran Murati, Kurti said: "As we have already made it a tradition, additional immediate support of 100 euros is being distributed to all pensioners."

Meanwhile, Minister Murati did not indicate when exactly pensioners and children will be able to receive this payment, but said that work will be done on this next week.

He added that pensioners and children do not need to apply for the end-of-year supplement, as they are already registered in the system.

The Kosovo government launched a scheme in 2021 to pay children under the age of 16 on a monthly basis, initially between 10 euros and 20 euros per month per child.

Kurti introduced a new scheme for child benefits in August this year with a small increase.

According to the new scheme, the first and second child in the family is paid €20 per month each, while for mothers with three or more children, each of the three children is paid €30.

The child allowance scheme will benefit over 400,000 children, according to the Government. The annual cost of the new scheme is expected to be 120 million euros.
