An unusual diplomatic episode has come to light, showing the influence of US President Donald Trump in the Middle East region, but above all that of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to sources close to the parties, Trump ordered Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Sharm el-Sheikh. Sisi, convinced, was ready to accept the visit.

But the situation took an unexpected turn when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Trump while he was still in the flight, warning that he would immediately return to Ankara if Netanyahu landed in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Trump listened to Erdogan's concern and ordered Netanyahu not to land, thus respecting the sensitive political balance between the countries involved.

Netanyahu, in line with the American order, respected the decision and canceled the visit.

This incident highlights not only the importance of Turkish influence in the Middle East, but also the complexities of international relations between Israel, Turkey, and Egypt.
