Kosovo police confiscate 30 weapons in the north

Kosovo police have confiscated 30 weapons in total during an operation in the north of the country, which according to them, are related to two members of the group that carried out the attack on September 24 last year in the village of Banjské, where a police officer was killed and three armed attackers.

The operation for the confiscation of weapons was carried out yesterday (June 14) in cooperation with the Intelligence Agency and TM 100 explosive weapons, long guns, revolvers, cartridges and other equipment were confiscated.

"We consider that these two locations have names, which means they are connected to the first location with Marjan Radojevic, while the second location is connected to Zharko Cvetkovic, that they are both looking for the case of Banjska. We consider that this weaponry and these devices are there for a longer time", said during a press conference the deputy director of the police in North Mitrovica, Veton Elshani.

On the other hand, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xelal Sveçla, wrote on social networks that in the north of the country, weapons, explosives and ammunition have been confiscated again, and this, according to him, is thanks to the increased vigilance of the institutions and the determination to destroy every criminal element and destabilizing tendency. coming from Belgrade.

On September 24, 2023, a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo police in the village of Banjské, in an event that raised concerns about stability in the region.

Kosovo accuses Serbia of organizing the attack, and officials in Pristina have warned of the dangers of repeated violent attacks by what they say are "Serbian criminal structures", similar to the September 24 attack.

Official Belgrade has denied any connection with the armed group, warning of the prosecution of former local Serbian official Milan Radoicic, who claimed responsibility for the attack.
