Elena Del Pozzo who runs happy to hug mom after leaving the garden. These are the last dramatic moments of the 5-year-old little girl who just a few minutes later would be killed by her mother, Martina Patti.

The perpetrator of the macabre crime confessed that he had killed the girl at her home in Mascalucia after returning from kindergarten. But during questioning the 23-year-old mother was unable to explain how and why she committed the crime. While police say she committed the crime out of jealousy for her ex-husband who had started another relationship.

She then took it and hid the body in an abandoned plot nearby, trying to cover it with earth. The Carabinieri of Catania found the body of the little girl on a farm a few hundred meters away from the house where the woman previously lived with her ex-partner and the father of the child, Alessandro Nicodemo Del Pozzo, 24 years old.

The father and mother of the child had not been together for some time. After the sad news, he went in despair with his new partner, to the place where the body was found.

Marina Patti had fabricated the kidnapping to hide the heinous crime. She told investigators that the abduction was carried out by three people, one of whom was armed. The Italian prosecution clarifies that the story of the abduction of the 5-year-old seemed "not very credible" from the early stages of the investigation.
