The lifeless body of Elena Del Pozzo, a 5-year-old girl who went missing on Monday at the Etneo Tremestieri, has been found. It was the little girl's mother who told about the child's body, after the "pressure exerted during the interrogation" by the investigators.

The Carabinieri of Catania went to the scene, a farmland a few hundred meters away from the house where the woman lived with her ex-partner, the girl's father. The news was confirmed by the prosecutor of Catania, Carmelo Zuccaro, who explained: "The woman confessed"

The couple had not been together for some time

The girl's father and mother had not been together for some time. The desperate man went with his new partner to the place where the body was found, which was buried, on a land 400 meters away from the house where the couple lived before they separated. Investigations and autopsies are still being conducted by the science department.

The story of the abduction

At first the woman had told about the kidnapping of the little girl by three people with hoods, one of whom was armed. After being questioned, this morning the woman in tears took investigators to the location of her daughter's body, a walnut field, in the province of Catania.

 "Narrative Statement"

 Numerous discrepancies in her confession were found during the interrogation.

The story that the mother fabricated about the kidnapping of the little girl seemed unbelievable from the early stages of the investigation, the prosecutor explains. In fact, investigators immediately noticed some anomalies: There were no witnesses other than her; no call to 112 immediately after the abduction, (only then did she go with the family to the barracks to make the denunciation). The anomaly that led the carabinieri and prosecutors to put pressure on the woman, who finally surrendered and burst into tears, pointing out where they could find her daughter's body.
