US Democrats have sharply attacked President Donald Trump's foreign policy during a hearing with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen called war with Iran "reckless and dangerous," declaring that Trump's foreign policy has become a "disaster."

Meanwhile, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker said Iran is benefiting from the economic fallout from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, adding that Tehran has now realized the power of blocking this strategic sea route. According to him, the conflict was wrong from the start and should never have happened.

According to Booker, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused "economic chaos," giving an advantage to adversaries in the region. "This ill-conceived war should never have happened," he said, adding to the pressure on the administration over its foreign policy course.
