Abraham Oseguera / CJNG Cartel

Mexican authorities have arrested Abraham Oseguera, brother of accused drug lord Nemesio Oseguera, alias "El Mencho" and leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The news was announced this Monday by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

The Mexican president confirmed the arrest at a morning press conference, adding that the security ministry would provide details later in the day.

Oseguera, who is also known as Don Rodo, was arrested Sunday by the National Guard in Autlan de Navarro, Jalisco, according to the security ministry's official arrest register.

Oseguera's brother El Mencho is arguably the most wanted man in Mexico.

The CJNG cartel, with tens of thousands of members and equipped with military weaponry, is widely seen as the most powerful gang in Mexico along with the Sinaloa Cartel.
