Lajcak: I'm not going anywhere, I'm focused on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue
Borrell - Lajçak

European Union special envoy Miroslav Lajcak said he is not close to the end of his mandate as acting in charge of dealing with dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

"My work continues" and "I'm not going anywhere," he told the sbunker platform, where he indicated he was working on the next steps in the dialogue process.

"I'm probably not as close to the end of my term as originally thought. So what I can say is my work continues. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I am not a part of my own, I am not a part of my own," he said.

He said his successor in the job would come "sooner or later" but added that "the process has not yet begun."

"And once the successor is chosen, then of course we will have a lot to share. But at the moment, there's only one EU Special Representative and you're talking to him now, and the team is here. And, as I said, we are really fully focused on our work and preparing our next steps," Lajcak said.

On Tuesday of last week Lajcak came to Kosovo on Tuesday, from where he announced that he would remain in the position of envoy for the dialogue until early next year.

Although his regular term ends at the end of August and from September 1st he will have to start his job as ambassador to Switzerland, he has said he has been asked to hold his position a little bit and that he has a lot of work to do until he finally leaves.

The last visit to Pristina, and then belgrade, he said that "it is about how to re-focus on the process of normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and what concrete steps we will take."

"I don't think it's my last visit to Pristina since I was asked to continue until the end of January. So there is still a lot of time and work we need to do," he said in Pristina, after a meeting he had with Kosovo's deputy prime minister and chief negotiator in the dialogue with Serbia, Besnik Bislimi.
