"Serbia is threatening war", said the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, after the extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of Kosovo.
Kurti emphasized that it was agreed at the meeting to increase readiness.
"What we've known for a long time was shattered in the most outrageous way possible. After 23 years since the end of the war, Serbia threatens again with war and with the return of their military forces who committed genocide in Kosovo", said Kurti, adding that "we are not against anyone in terms of ethnicity".
According to Kurti, official Belgrade today is talking and behaving like it was 23 years ago.
"Serbia is not hiding that it wants to continue the war it lost. This constitutes a constant threat to our state and peace in our country", said Kurti.
The Prime Minister added that in the north of the country, peace remained fragile forever.
"The Ahtisaari package was a painful compromise, through which the Serbian community in Kosovo gained guaranteed and expanded rights. The integration of the north did not happen either after the declaration of independence or after a decade of dialogue in Brussels", said Kurti.
Kurti has also criticized the past Governments, saying that in the past an agreement was made with criminals like Radoiçiqi and Veselenoviqi to form the Government of Kosovo.
"Our government is interested in cooperation with the Serbian community in Kosovo. We want the Serbian community to take the positions that belong to them with our Constitution", said Kurti.
The prime minister added that Serbia, through criminal groups and taking advantage of this environment of lack of full rule of law in the north, has for a long time held and is holding Serbian citizens hostage.
"We, in partnership with the EU and the USA, have tolerated several postponements of the implementation of our decisions, but each postponement is subject to a deadline. We have not given up on any decision we have made. Illegality will not be tolerated in any part of our country", said Prime Minister Kurti.
