Channel 13, one of Israel's leading media channels, revealed this evening the dramatic dialogue between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the night the ceasefire with Iran was "saved".
According to the report , Trump personally intervened to stop an Israeli military operation against Iran.
He called Netanyahu and asked him to cancel the airstrike, giving him the clear order: "Tell the planes to turn back."
The conversation took place hours after Iran violated the fragile ceasefire by launching two ballistic missiles.
Trump, referring to a previous Israeli attack, reportedly told Netanyahu: "You threw your entire arsenal at them."
The Israeli prime minister responded by denying that the attack occurred after the ceasefire began.
"That's not true, we haven't attacked since the ceasefire went into effect," Netanyahu reportedly replied.
Despite the explanations, Trump insisted. "I don't care, blame me. It wasn't intentional (Iran's attack), the missiles didn't fall and there was no damage," he said, referring to the Iranian attacks and stressing the need to avoid a new military flare-up.
According to the Times of Israel newspaper, Trump's intervention reveals the tension, but also the delicate political balance between the US and Israel at a time of high regional tensions.
The episode also shows the direct role the American president plays in developments in the Middle East and the extent of his personal influence over the Israeli prime minister.
Immediately after the conversation, Netanyahu gave the order to turn the planes back. According to reports in Israel, the planes were only "three minutes away from the target" before the Israeli prime minister changed the order, and they had been targeting members of the Revolutionary Guard.
Only one plane hit an old radar, as it did not have time to react, and the rest turned back.
