The Italian supermarket chain Coop Alleanza announced this Wednesday that it will stop selling Israeli products and that, at the same time, it will start selling Gaza Cola.
"Gaza Cola is a 100% Palestinian initiative born in 2023, whose proceeds will contribute to the construction of a hospital in the Gaza Strip," the announcement said.
The Coop Alleanza chain has 350 supermarkets in eight Italian regions. The main Israeli products it will stop selling, according to the press, are tahini and a brand of soda.
"The escalation of recent days has led us to send a message of solidarity, we cannot remain indifferent in the face of violence. We have always been on the side of those who call for the immediate cessation of military operations and we firmly condemn the humanitarian aid blockade imposed by the Israeli government ," said a statement from Coop Alleanza.
