Violence and chaos engulfed the entire federal state of Sinaloa in Mexico after the arrest of Olvidio Guzman-Lopez, the son of El Chapo, and several of his family members on Thursday morning.

Violence reigned again this Friday, mainly in the city of Culiacan, where members of one of the largest drug cartels in Mexico attacked the police with weapons and explosives.

Officials said 10 soldiers and 19 suspects died in the gunfight.

Armed gangs, angry about the arrest, set up road blockades, burned vehicles and attacked a local airport in an attempt to prevent the transfer of El Chapo's son. Two planes were hit by gunfire, one of which was taking off.

Schools have been closed, while the authorities appealed to citizens not to leave their homes. A Mexican airline said one of its planes was hit by bullets before it took off.

US State Department officials urged US citizens in the country to exercise extreme caution, while other citizens to avoid travel to Sinaloa.

Guzmán is accused of leading one of the factions of the notorious Sinaloa cartel after his father's arrest. The operation was also supported by the American forces and the young man was transferred to a Mexican capital.

Mexico admitted that American officials were involved in the 6-month operation to capture him. American justice had also set a reward of up to 5 million dollars for information related to his capture.

"Miu" was also arrested in 2019, but was released to avoid an urban guerilla from his supporters.

His father, Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, is serving a life sentence in the United States after being found guilty in 2019 of drug trafficking and money laundering.
