Iran warns Trump: If you hit us, we will attack the US with 'sleeper cells'

Iran has warned Donald Trump that if attacked, it would activate sleeper cell attacks (groups of secret agents that have remained inactive for a long period) inside the US.

The news is reported by NBC, adding that according to sources, the message went to the US president through an intermediary during the G7 summit in Canada last week.

Meanwhile, the US administration has declared that it is on high alert for any possible retaliation within the US.

The Department of Homeland Security issued the alert yesterday: "The conflict with Iran is creating an increased threat environment in the United States."
