British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation this evening, the British Prime Minister's Office (Downing Street) just announced.
“In this conversation, the leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East and reiterated the serious threat that Iran’s nuclear program poses to international security,” the statement said.
They also discussed the actions the United States took last night to reduce the threat, agreeing that Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
The statement added that the two leaders reiterated "the need for Iran to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible" to reach a "durable solution."
Starmer and Trump also agreed to "remain in close contact" over the coming days.
